Songs for the Season

Unique Musical Programs

Carols and Kris Kringle

“Santa Songs – Carols and Kris Kringle” is a shorter (60 minute) concert of holiday music celebrating the Santa tradition perfectly suited for lounge or supper club entertainment while keeping the context of Santa Songs, this version highlights the music.

Developed in 2011 it features original music by New York City composer Paul Johnson, as well as traditional favorites like Toyland by Victor Herbert and Here Comes Santa Claus by Autry and Haldeman together with songs from television and Broadway.  It is adult cabaret entertainment not appropriate for little children but older kids and families will be delighted.

Daniel Johnson is a frequent interpreter of holiday material having appeared many times as Santa onstage and for charity, and in venues such as the Drake Hotel in Chicago.  He has been featured in “A Christmas Carol” and “Miracle on 34th St.”  Dan is a veteran musical theatre performer of material from Gilbert and Sullivan to Meredith Willson and has been seen several times in cabaret at Davenport’s as well as at Piano Forte and with SongShop Live throughout Chicagoland.

The 2012 edition of “Carols and Kris Kringle” debuted November 24 at Terra Sounds Recital Hall, 924 Waukegan Rd, Glenview, IL 60025 with Daniel Johnson and Paul Goldman.

Amish Acres in Nappanee, IN also saw performances on Nov. 30 and Dec. 14 2012 with Liesl Bell at the keyboard.  Dan performed a refined version of this show with Mark Burnell at Davenports Piano Bar and Cabaret, Dec. 1, 2016 and a good time was had by all!

We hope that this unique show has a future, particularly in libraries, community center’s and retirement communities.  It’s a perfect length and is very informative and uplifting.
